My name is Becky Reel and I’m the author of Coming Home: My Accidental Journey to Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship. My own path to entrepreneurship wasn’t planned. It found me when I least expected it. Through building my home care agency, I stumbled upon my life’s purpose and deepest passion.

I’ve written this book to share my journey, complete with its unexpected turns, challenges, and triumphs. My hope is to inspire others who might be standing at the edge of their own accidental opportunity, unsure whether to take the leap. This story is for anyone who senses there might be more meaning waiting for them in work they haven’t yet imagined.

My mission is to show others standing at the edge of opportunity that it doesn’t matter how they got there—what matters is having the courage to step into their true purpose.

The book is written in 3 Parts:

When Life Breaks You Open

Part 1 takes you through the kind of brutal personal journey that either destroys you or saves you. You’ll feel the gut-punch of watching my Papa die in a sterile nursing home while I held his hand as he passed away, and the crushing weight of finding my missing sister after 25 years only to watch her mental illness tear our family apart again. You’ll recognize your own breaking points in stories of childhood trauma, abandonment, and the terrifying moment when you realize the people who are supposed to protect you can’t even protect themselves.

Bleeding While Building

Part 2 deals with the messy, ugly truth of trying to create something meaningful while everything’s falling apart. You’ll feel the panic attacks on Christmas Eve when caregivers quit, the shame of crying on your living room floor because you can’t handle one more emergency, and the desperate loneliness of being surrounded by people who think you’re “living the dream” while you’re actually dying inside. The real things like offering bribes at 2 AM or on Thanksgiving to get a caregiver to cover a shift, missing your kid’s soccer game for the third time, and the moment you realize you’ve built a prison full of resentment instead of a business.

Finding Your Fire

Part 3 explores the life-changing discovery that your deepest pain can become your greatest gift to others. You’ll understand the bone-deep relief of finally knowing who you are and what you’re meant to do, the terrifying joy of walking away from money that doesn’t align with your gut, and the moment you realize that helping others isn’t just what you do, it’s who you are—it’s who you always have been. Stories of families who trusted us with their last moments, the decision to absorb thousands in losses because it felt right, and discovering that your scars can become someone else’s roadmap home.
